The World Left-Handed Championship returned to New Zealand for the second time, having played previously at the Harewood Golf Club, Christchurch in 1993. The 72 hole tournament was played at four different courses in the Queenstown region, Millbrook Golf Club, Queenstown Golf Club, Arrowtown Golf Club and Jacks Point Golf Club. All courses were most different in character and all present in excellent condition.

The Welcome Cocktail Party was held in the Galaxy Ballroom at the Millennium Hotel, Queenstown on Sunday evening the 2 nd March 2008.

Richard Davison the World President welcomed all to the tournament especially those attending for the first time, he also made special mention of the landscape and lifestyle of that part of the Country.

The tournament attracted 299 entrants from 12 different countries, Australia (80), Canada (10), England (16), Finland (1), Germany (8), Ireland (9), Japan (34), New Zealand (91), Sweden (7), Switzerland (2), Taiwan (9) and U.S.A. (32).

The tournament was played on Monday 3rd, Tuesday 4th, Thursday 6th and Friday 7th March 2008.

The Presentation Banquet was held on Friday night 7th March at the Queenstown Events Centre.

The World Champion was Brian Cronin, New Zealand.

The Senior Champion was Brodie Baker U.S.A.

The Super Senior Champion was Barry Ewart, Australia.

The Lady Champion was Teruko Yatsushiro, Japan.

The Doug Crosby World Cup was won by New Zealand.
