As the world of left-handed golf expanded we traveled to Galway, Ireland for the 6th World Championship. The tournament was held over 72 holes on four different courses. Connemara, Westport, Athlone and Galway. The headquarters for the tournament was the Great Southern Hotel, Galway, where the welcome cocktail party was held on 6 June 1990.

There were 245 entrants from 13 different countries, Australia (46), Canada (17), England (30), Finland (1), France (2), Germany (5), Ireland (88), New Zealand (12), Oman (1), Scotland (2), Switzerland (2), Taiwan (15), United Arab Emirates (2) and U.S.A. (21).

Ron Attwooll, the President of NALG (Ireland) welcomed everyone to the West of Ireland and advised the courses to be played were of Championship standard and all in good condition.

The tournament was played on Thursday 7 June, Friday 8 June, Monday 11 June and Wednesday 13 June, 1990.

Golf was organized for the Ladies and partners each day at Oughterard, Tuam, Athenry and Galway golf clubs.

The presentation dinner was held on Wednesday evening 13 June at the ffrench’s Nite Club, Monivea, where a great time was had by all.

The World Champion was Peter Read, Australia.

The Senior Champion was Brian Sluggett, Canada.

The Doug Crosby World Cup was won by Australia.
