| In 1998 a group of left-handed golfers formed N. A. L. G. CANADA to promote kinship while enjoying competitive golf.
It was felt that there were enough Canadian golfers to warrant the move to our own association rather than to continue to be a part of the USA Association. I suggest it as being similar to your son or daughter deciding to move out of home into their own place.
The Association exists for the purpose of running the National Canadian Left-Handed Golf Championship, producing a newsletter 3 times per year, and producing a membership list to members at least every 2 years.
The Association is sometimes called on to do other things, for example it will host the WORLD LEFT-LEFT HANDED GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP and a joint USA-CANADA NATIONAL LEFT-HANDED TOURNAMENT both in 2003.
At this time the site for these Tournaments is narrowed down to Victoria, British Columbia. The newsletter lists Left-Handed Tournaments upcoming and past results for your interest. It may be useful particularly if you travel you can always find a tournament and enjoy a little camaraderie or obtain a phone number of a member and get a game or at least find out the best place to play golf. If past experience is an indication you will get to play interesting courses at good value.
Looking down the road, if the World Championship is as popular as 1985 World Tournament in Victoria then it will be oversubscribed and we will have to limit entries and the existing membership would be one of the criteria. We have purposely kept the membership costs low at $20.00/yr. $14.00 US or Juniors $5.00/yr. to make it affordable for everyone. We urge you to take a minute and check out our web site http://www.members.shaw.ca/nalgcan for more information.
